Word For Today lamp to my feet

A LOVE FOR GOD'S WORD.
'Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path." Psalm 119:105 NKJV

20 FRIDAY 20 May 2022

The psalmist highlights two important things: Bible reading does for you: 1) It shows you your spiritual condition. In Bible times there were no paved roads, so when guests entered a house, they paused to wash the sand, dirt, and grime from their feet. That's what Bible reading does. David said, 'How can a young man [and an older one] cleanse his way? By taking heed according to your word' (v. 9 NKJV). 2) It shows you the direction you need to go. Your word is...a light to my path.' When you're faced with an important decision and you don't know which way to go, God will guide you through His Word. David, who loved God's Word and meditated on it constantly, prayed, 'Teach me to do Your will, for You are my God; Your Spirit is good. Lead me in the land of uprightness"

(Psalm 143:10 NKJV). Many of the mistakes we make could be prevented if we stopped long enough to seek God's guidance. He knows what lies ahead: we don'ty So 'commit your way to the LORD, trust also in Him, and He shall bring it to pass' (Psalm 37:5 NKJV). Just like children need to be taught to cultivate a taste for healthy food instead of junk food, you need to cultivate a taste for God's Word. The psalmist said, 'I will delight myself in Your commandments, which I love' (Psalm 119:47 NKJV). Your word is very pure; therefore Your servant loves it' (v. 140 NKJV). Today ask God to give you a love for His Word.Thats a prayer He will answer.

putting the Word to work

Wandering around in the dark can be scary and frustrating! Do you ever feel that you are wandering in life, not sure of which way to go? Learn God's Word; it is a lamp unto your feet and a light unto your path (see Psalm 119:105).God promises to use His Word to instruct you in the way you are to go, one step at a time!

105 Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path. [Prov. 6:23.]

Terry's Zoom Meeting 19th May 2022.

Hebrews 4:12 .....12.For the word of God is alive and powerful. It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword, cutting between soul and spirit, be tween joint and marrow. It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires. 13.Nothing in all creation is hidden from God. Everything is naked and exposed before his eyes, and he is the one to whom we are accountable.

4:12-13 During hard times our faith tends to dwindle; we may grow angry and harden our hearts to the truth about ourselves. The antidote to this problem is the living Word of God, which has power to penetrate even the deepest denial. This is good news for those of us struggling to overcome a dysfunctional lifestyle and having a tendency to distort reality. God knows everything about us, even the things we try to hide from ourselves. We can count on him through his Word to expose the problems and needs we will face in recovery.

13.And remember, when you are being tempted, do not say, "God is tempting me." God is never tempted to do wrong,* and he never tempts anyone else. 14 Temptation comes from our own desires, which entice us and drag us away. 15. These desires give birth to sinful actions. And when sin is allowed to grow, it gives birth to death.

God Calling....Meditate on His word.

I watched a film the other night called God is calling. I wish it was that easy just to pick up the phone and hear His voice.

But God is trying to talk to us but it is through his Word. So if  we will just listen to what God is telling us through His scripture we will find more peace in life.

I am finding this out for real. So from today I am going to take notes of the ones God is highlighting for me.

It's so funny every morning I meditate on His Word. I have an app on my phone which I listen too and had to laugh when I read today's message fro the UCB Word For Today......

Psalm 119:15 …I will meditate on you precepts, and contemplate Your ways (NKJV).

Word For Today from my UCB App….

Meditating with Jesus

Thursday 19th May 2022

'I will meditate on your precepts and consider your ways.' Psalm 119:15 NIV

Another word for meditation is rumination. Rumination is what a cow does. The cow eats grass, chews all she can, and then swallows it. It sits in one of her stomachs for a while, and then a little later, she burps it up - with renewed flavour. The cow chews on it some more and swallows it again. This process continues in all four stomachs. That's rumination. The cow is pulling every ounce of nourishment from the grass. And meditation is simply thought digestion.

Meditation isn't putting your mind in neutral and thinking about nothing. On the contrary, it's thinking seriously about what you're reading. For example, you dwell on one verse of Scripture and ask, 'What does this mean for my life?' You talk to yourself and God about it. The Bible says this: 'Keep your minds on whatever is true, pure, right, holy, friendly, and proper. Don't ever stop thinking about what is truly worthwhile and worthy of praise...And God, who gives peace, will be with you' (Philippians 4:8-9 CEV). Notice that we are to ponder different categories of things and, by implication, to avoid thinking about the opposite kind of things.

Colossians 3:16 (CEV) says, 'Let the message about Christ completely fill your lives'. You need to spend time every day - a minimum of ten to fifteen minutes where you sit down, read a portion of the Bible, and think deeply about what you have just read. Then talk to the Lord about it in prayer. That's the starting point for spiritual change and growth.

So let's see what comes up today……

*Recovery Bible….119:9-16

Obedience to God's Word produces wholeness; it seems only logical that we should do all we can to follow it. This is a significant part of seeking God's will for us. In the Bible, God has left clear guidelines for how he expects us to live. He has also promised that he will help us to carry out his will if we only ask him. Studying and applying God's Word should become a joyful experience that will implant God's truth firmly in our minds and hearts.

Journal Entry 16th May 2022

Love today's message from the UCB app. It is so revelant to what God is telling me at the moment. When you experience something like this you know it's the truth.

 Monday 16th May 2022.

How God changes us (1)

'It...teaches us to do what is right.' 2 Timothy 3:16 NLT

One way God changes us is through his Word. 'All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realise what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right. God uses it to prepare and equip his people to do every good work' (2 Timothy 3:16-17 NLT).

The story is told of a converted cannibal in the South Sea islands. He was sitting by a large pot reading his Bible when an anthropologist approached him and asked, 'What are you doing?' The native replied, 'I'm reading the Bible.' The anthropologist scoffed and said, 'Don't you know that modern, civilised man has rejected that book? It's nothing but a pack of lies. You shouldn't waste your time reading it.' The cannibal looked him over from head to toe and slowly replied, 'Sir, if it weren't for this book - you'd be in that pot!' The Word of God had changed his life - and his appetite.

If you're serious about changing your life, you have to get into the Bible. You need to read it, study it, memorise it, meditate on it, speak it and apply it. 'But my faith is weak,' you say. Are you reading your Bible regularly? Are you studying it? Are you memorising it? No? Then how do you expect your faith to grow? The Bible says, 'Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God' (Romans 10:17 NKJV). Bottom line: the Spirit of God uses the Word of God to make us more like the Son of God

Gods Mirror Work.

Reflection from Terry last night...I hate when i hear people criticing others.

*This is what God is reflecting to me (this is a what I do)

Who am I to criticise!!!! God is the only judge.

Terry said about he hates guys at the AA saying you need to be good/love yourselves.

*But it does say in Matthew 19:19 "You shall love your neighbor as yourself".

Im finding thats why i couldnt love others. They were so like what i didnt like in myself and I didn't want to see it.

So when i started to love myself the way that God did i could easily love others better.

This is why i love doing God mirror work. I am using Gods word to reflect what i need to do to change..

I just seen two books about it. I love max lucado he is a great Christian author.

Louise is not she is more new age but God will guide me. He will light a lamp so I can see clearly and not be sucked back into that way of thinking.
