True or False ...

True or False

Inside my head is a gal named “Worst Case Scenario Cindy.” She often gets entangled in a lie that flows from a thought that stems from the fear of what could happen. She’s been known to entertain this fear more than she should.

I find myself going down an unhealthy road in my mind the moment unwanted circumstances present themselves. But just because bad things can occur doesn’t mean they will occur. If you find yourself engaging in this toxic mental tradition, let’s change that.

A spiritual stronghold is a thinking pattern that’s harmful because it’s built on falsehood. Strongholds can come from a variety of places: our surroundings, other people, and of course, the forces of darkness directed by our spiritual enemy. They affect our feelings, responses, and freedom. While a stronghold in ancient times was meant to keep enemies out, the forces of evil want to erect a stronghold to prevent negative thought patterns from ever leaving our minds. They work tirelessly, making it vital that we learn how to resist the forces of darkness.

If you wonder what strongholds are in your life, simply ask yourself this question: What negative thing has a strong hold in my life? It could be bitterness, worry, pride, or fear. If it’s ugly and you don’t like it, chances are it’s a stronghold. Once you’ve recognized it, then you find a Scripture that says the opposite and fight it.

It’s a war. A spiritual war to reclaim truth and peace in our minds. We cannot feel our way through spiritual warfare. We must use our greatest weapon—God’s Word. If you believe you’re unloved or unwanted, resist the lie by proclaiming, “I am a co-heir with Christ. I have been chosen by God and adopted as His child.” (Romans 8:17; Ephesians 1:3-7) Saying truth is the easy part; living it takes practice. You may not “feel” like it’s the truth, but it is. Speak it ‘til you feel it. And then when you feel it, keep speaking it because it’s part of your fight in this war.

And are you armored up for the fight? The spiritual forces of darkness are always on the clock, committed to their cause of making our lives miserable. So grab that breastplate of righteousness, that glorious shield of faith, that all-powerful sword of the Spirit, and that mighty helmet of salvation, all the while standing there with your feet fitted with the gospel of peace. And stand your ground. No more negative strongholds on your watch.

You’ve got this. Because God’s got you.

—Cindy, Mastering Strongholds Through Spiritual Warfare

Pray: Jesus, I’m in a fight. I feel it. I’m fighting to break lies I’ve believed for far too long. I’m fighting to keep from believing new lies. And I know I can’t break through these strongholds without Your power. Help me to understand how to fight. Help me to choose the words Your Holy Spirit speaks to my mind. Help me to win this war and find the peace that You want to bring to every corner of my thoughts.

John 10:10 NIV : The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.

2 Corinthians 10:3‭-‬5 NIV: For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does. The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.

Ephesians 6:10‭-‬18 NIV: Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.  And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.

Ephesians 4:20‭-‬24 NIV: That, however, is not the way of life you learned when you heard about Christ and were taught in him in accordance with the truth that is in Jesus. You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; to be made new in the attitude of your minds; and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.

James 4:7 NIV: Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

Romans 12:2 NIV: Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.

Monkey Mind

Adopt the attitude that was in Christ Jesus.  Philippians 2:5 (CEB)

Having The Mind Of Christ

Do you have a “monkey mind” that fights against the promises of God?

This meditation from Philippians 2 is a reflection on examining your thoughts and pondering what it means to deconstruct any random swinging thoughts.  To focus instead on having the changeless peace-filled mind of Christ.

Now please accept this closing benediction to remember to adopt the attitude that was in Christ Jesus. May you walk like Christ. Be guided by the Holy Spirit. And have the mind of God. Heavenly Father, by Your mercy, hear this prayer in the name of your son, Jesus Christ, Amen.

A friend loves at all times, and a brother is born for a time of adversity.

Revere God..

Sometimes, when we think about fearing God, we feel like we might lose out on the good things in life. But the truth is there are many blessings that come with acknowledging God’s sovereignty and power. Here are a few reasons why reverencing the Lord is a very good idea:

1) The Lord requires it of us. “You shall follow the Lord your God and fear Him; and you shall keep His commandments, listen to His voice, serve Him, and cling to Him” (Deut. 13:4).

2) Fearing God gives knowledge. “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge” (Prov. 1:7). Many people are smart, well-educated, and knowledgeable on many subjects, yet they are totally ignorant about what matters most because they don’t know or fear God.

3) It makes us wise. “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom” (Prov. 9:10). Wisdom doesn’t come from education but from God. He’s the One who gives us insight regarding what to do, when to act, how to respond, what to believe, and what to reject. The only source of true wisdom is almighty God, and He’ll give it to us when we ask and are willing to surrender our lives to Him.

4) It keeps us from evil. “By the fear of the Lord one keeps away from evil” (Prov. 16:6). A deep reverence for God produces a desire for righteousness and a hatred of sin. We’ll be quick to repent and deal with any sin in our lives.

5) It’s healing to our body. “Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the Lord and turn away from evil. It will be healing to your body and refreshment to your bones” (Prov. 3:7-8). As believers, our bodies are the temple of the Holy Spirit who indwells us, and we should treat them as such. When we hold God in high esteem, we’ll seek to please Him by doing what’s right and abstaining from evil. This doesn’t mean that living a lifestyle of obedience to God will guarantee us a long, healthy life, but it will keep us from the ailments that result from indulging in sinful practices.

6) It gives confidence. “In the fear of the Lord there is strong confidence” (Prov. 14:26). Boldness comes as a result of living in dependence upon God. As He lives His life in and through us, He produces godliness and the assurance of His continual presence and help in every situation we face.

7) It’s a fountain of life. “The fear of the Lord is a fountain of life” (Prov. 14:27). When we reverence and exalt God, we’ll understand that He’s in control of our lives, watching over us and guiding our path. And as Christ’s life flows through us, His Spirit produces the attitudes He desires us to have—“love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control” (Gal. 5:22-23).

8) God will fulfill our desire. “He will fulfill the desire of those who fear Him” (Ps. 145:19). If we are following the Lord in obedience and living as He wants, He will give us the desire of our heart and hear our prayers. However, this doesn’t guarantee we’ll receive everything we request. Fearing God means we will want what pleases Him. As we first delight in the Lord, He responds by giving us those desires that align with His will (Ps. 37:4).

9) The fear of the Lord gives divine protection. “The angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear Him, and rescues them” (Ps. 34:7). We should never underestimate the mighty power of God and His willingness to protect us. Psalm 91 speaks of His awesome protection for those who live in His shelter.

10) It leads to life. “The fear of the Lord leads to life” (Prov. 19:23). This verse isn’t speaking merely of our physical life but our spiritual life. Many people are looking for happiness, peace, and joy but are continually turning away from God—the only One who can provide these things. The fear of the Lord brings every blessing imaginable because we’re honoring, obeying, and surrendering to Him.

11) It prolongs life. “The fear of the Lord prolongs life” (Prov. 10:27). People who have lived 40 years fearing and obeying God have lived more life than a 70-year-old without Him. Furthermore, none of us can be saved and receive eternal life without fearing the Lord and surrendering our lives to Him.

The wisest decision we can ever make is to fear the living God by honoring, obeying, exalting, worshipping, and trusting Him for our salvation. He alone should have first place in our minds and hearts throughout our days. How will you worship Him today?
