Let’s Choose the Big Picture

It’s no secret that our world seems more divided than ever. Whether it’s political parties that can’t agree on a nation’s budget or religious groups that spew hatred toward each other, there always seems to be a tension in the relational, spiritual, and political climate of our world.

In this Plan, we’ve discussed several different things to incorporate into our relationships with people we don’t agree with. Loving people because Jesus called us to, showing respect by managing our demeanor, avoiding fruitless arguments, and empathizing with others to see life from their lens are all wise and helpful approaches. It seems too difficult a task to put differences aside, but it isn’t.

We could pre-decide that we’re going to choose people over policies and relationships over rules.  What if…

...we exhibited patience?
...we chose not to be offended?
...we quit taking everything so personally?
..we changed the degrading way we talk to others?
...we focused on what we did have in common?
...we chose the big picture?

Let’s not forget that God so loved...the world. Every single soul on this planet, past, present, and future, He loves. While we’ll never have His capacity to love people, we are still called to love others.

Followers of Jesus can’t quote enough Bible verses to force someone to believe in Jesus. What we can do is represent Jesus by showing love, respect, and empathy, all covered with equal parts truth and grace.

At the end of the day, the point of loving people we disagree with is unity. Whether the issue is petty or prominent, we can choose people first. Because if we, as followers of Jesus, want people to know our Savior and Lord the way we do, that’s where we have to start. Let’s represent Jesus well so that others want to know Him. And when they do, the Holy Spirit is quite capable of leading them to adjust any viewpoints that are inconsistent with His truth.

But you are not controlled by your sinful nature. You are controlled by the Spirit if you have the Spirit of God living in you. (And remember that those who do not have the Spirit of Christ living in them do not belong to him at all.) And Christ lives within you, so even though your body will die because of sin, the Spirit gives you life because you have been made right with God. The Spirit of God, who raised Jesus from the dead, lives in you. And just as God raised Christ Jesus from the dead, he will give life to your mortal bodies by this same Spirit living within you. Therefore, dear brothers and sisters, you have no obligation to do what your sinful nature urges you to do. For if you live by its dictates, you will die. But if through the power of the Spirit you put to death the deeds of your sinful nature, you will live. For all who are led by the Spirit of God are children of God. So you have not received a spirit that makes you fearful slaves. Instead, you received God’s Spirit when he adopted you as his own children. Now we call him, “Abba, Father.”  For his Spirit joins with our spirit to affirm that we are God’s children. And since we are his children, we are his heirs. In fact, together with Christ we are heirs of God’s glory. But if we are to share his glory, we must also share his suffering. Yet what we suffer now is nothing compared to the glory he will reveal to us later.

Romans 8:9‭-‬18 NLT ...But you are not controlled by your sinful nature. Hebrews 12:14 NLT : Work at living in peace with everyone, and work at living a holy life, for those who are not holy will not see the Lord.

THE GOSPEL MESSAGE

Galatians 2:21(NLT) :I do not treat the grace of God as meaningless. For if keeping  the law could make us right with God then there was no need for Christ to die

Hear the good news of the Gospel of Christ by Melissa Disney....

Salvation is a free gift of God's  grace, you cant earn it, you can only accept it. Let God transform your life.

When Paul wrote to the church in Galactica they were in danger of treating the vibrant spiritual spiritual life for strick rule keeping.

But acting like you can perform your way into Gods kingdom,  is like acting like Gods grace isn't powerful enough to save you.

That's why Paul writes" I do not treat the grace of God as meaningless. For if keeping the law could make us right with God, then there was no need for Christ to die.

Take a moment and let that message sink in. Let it free you from shame. Perhaps you have failed to follow God well. Perhaps you have given into sin once again. Perhaps you find anger and impatience and hatred rising up in your heart.

But if your beating yourself up over failure, your acting like Gods grace isn't enough. Gods grace is enough in Jesus life, death and resurrection  you've been saved.

Your old self was crucified with Christ, now you live in Him. It's in union with Jesus that true everlasting life is found.

Pray with me: God your grace is beyond what I can comprehend. Its so easy for me to begin to think that I need to do more or be more in order for you to love me. Help me to cling to the good news of the Gospel.

The truth that Jesus has already accomplished my Salvation, and all I need to do is accept it. Thank you God in Jesus name I pray.

Close your eyes if you can and be present here. Feel the gentleness of your breath and put your hands out in front of you with your palms up. Remember the words of the old hymm" Nothing in my hands I bring simply to the cross I cling"

If you've been trusting in your own goodness rather than trusting in God. Confess that now. Confess any sins that have been troubling you and trust that Godwill always forgive.

You are a child of God through faith in Jesus. In all who have been united with Christ in baptism have put on Christ, like putting on new clothes.  This is your new life forgiving and beloved without blemish before God.

Pray with me, God thank you for the freedom that comes from accepting that your grace is sufficient.  Thank you that I dont have to be good for you to love me. Thank you for coming to earth and taking on human flesh and reconciling  me to you in the life and death of Jesus.

Help me to walk in freedom and love in Jesus name I pray. Amen

Jesus loved you and gave Himself for you, that's the good news rest in it today

Untill next time may you abide in Christ.

#2...Verse For Today : 1 Peter 4:16 (NLT)...it is no shame to suffer for being a Christian. Praise God for the privilege of being called by his name!

Clear Consciousness . .

#2 : This morning I was watching a video of Eugene H Peterson and this stood out to me.
Isaiah 53:2...For He [the Servant of God] grew up before Him like a tender shoot (plant), And like a root out of dry ground; He has no stately form or majestic splendor That we would look at Him, Nor [handsome] appearance that we would be attracted to Him.

At 11:29 in the video Eugene said "Art is making visible what's  invisible in the life of faith and thats the most important thing about faith. Its between me and you and God

But you cant see it, but you can see it when it's not there. There's no relationship, or there's criticism,  or anger, or something negative.

And I just think that word "BETWEEN" is just really a powerful concept to understand the nature of what we are at, all the time.

Authenticity = Being yourself. Your stuck with yourself so get to know yourself and live life with no regrets. (Amaising my taxi driver had this as a tattoo on his neck) and also it reminded me of Jiminy Cricket. He just wanted to be himself, he wanted to be good. He is the small voice inside of you  (your consciousness).

The verse that also stood out from yesterdays came to mind there ... This is my conscion talking...😇
