Proverb 23:7...WHAT A MAN THINKETH IN HIS HEART

Page 87--

well I have sent an E-mail to Lisa Lynsay to ask about a house., -I am leaving it in God's hand now. So what every comes as long as I have Him I will be Ok.

Just as I said early and I printed the picture out. I need to stop over thinking-

 OVERTHINKING

THE "ART" OF CREATING PROBLEMS         THAT WEREN'T EVEN THERE!

I Love this quote. Its so true how many times have I nearly worried myself to Death because of my thinking.

Plus I have brought some of my worries to me because of overthinking as says in the Bible- "As a man thinketh so he is proverb 23:7"

https://www.gotquestions.org/as-a-man-thinks-so-is-he.html

Info I got from the above link ....The Hebrew verb  translated "thinketh" in the Authorized Version of Proverb 23:7 means "estimate" or "calculate" The clause might more accurately be rendered 'as one who calculates

with himself, so is he," or "he is like one who is inwardly calculating.

The "he" is stingy miser mentioned in verse 6; The NIV translate it as a begrudging host "who is always thinking about the cost of the meal he shares. His Generosity is false."

After reading the above I found this link which is good also..........

 https://www.crosswalk.com/faith/bible-study/reasons-proverbs-237-says-as-a-man-thinks-so-he-is.html

That's why what you think about matters, because it is forming the basis of who you become.

I will copy the rest out and put it in the blog because the rest of what it says is very interesting. Here is the info I got from the link above......

That’s why what you think about matters, because it is forming the basis of who you will become.

However, there is something about this verse that cannot be overlooked. Who you are on the inside and what you say on the outside, don’t always line up. The Pharisees, for example, were very good at presenting themselves as very pious, devout, religious people, yet Jesus called them hypocrites.

This word hypocrite in the Greek means actor. The Pharisees were playing a role on the outside that didn’t reflect who they really were. If you need to know who a person really is, you can’t always determine that by the things they say, you have to look at the root of who they are, and that root is the heart. Everything a person is flows out of their heart.

Jesus said you will know a tree by its fruit. The fruit of the tree is simply a reflection of the root it’s connected to. You will never get an orange from an apple tree root. The core of who you are is evidenced by the thoughts or roots of your heart. That’s why what is on the inside is so much more important than what is on the outside. You can mask the outside to others, and you can try to bury it to the world around you. But, ultimately, what’s in your heart will reveal who you really are.

Context around Proverbs 23:7

The vast majority of Proverbs were written by King Solomon, regarded as the wisest man who ever lived. These proverbs are designed to give perspective on life, living, and good decision making.

That’s why the encouragement throughout the book is to get wisdom, which is the application of knowledge. This is the essence of all the Proverbs.

Most of them are very practical and if applied can transform your thinking which will in turn lead to better choices.

Biblical Translations of Proverbs 23:7

In the King James Version, for example, Proverbs 23:7 says, as a man thinks in his heart, so is he. Here is this verse in other translations.

NKJV – For as he thinks in his heart, so is he. “Eat and drink!” he says to you, But his heart is not with you.

AMP - For as he thinks in his heart, so is he [in behavior—one who manipulates]. He says to you, “Eat and drink,” Yet his heart is not with you [but it is begrudging the cost].

RV - They might tell you to eat and drink all you want, but they don’t really mean it. They are the kind of people who are only thinking about the cost.

EXB - Selfish people are always worrying about how much the food costs [They calculate in their minds; or They are like a hair in the throat]. They tell you, “Eat and drink,” but ·they don’t really mean it [their heart is not with you].

GNT - Come on and have some more,” he says, but he doesn't mean it. What he thinks is what he really is.

MSG - Don’t accept a meal from a tightwad; don’t expect anything special. He’ll be as stingy with you as he is with himself; he’ll say, “Eat! Drink!” but won’t mean a word of it.

The root or core meaning of this verse is one of hypocrisy. You say one thing but you really don’t mean it. It’s like the unethical salesperson who will tell you how wonderful you look in that outfit only to make the sale. The bottom line is: God hates hypocrisy.

This theme is evident in other places throughout the Bible as well. I want to share with you from scripture, three examples of why Proverbs 23:7 (as a man thinks in his heart, so is he), is what God uses to determine a person’s authenticity. Consider these three questions:

1. Is Your Worship Genuine?

The Lord says: “These people come near to me with their mouth and honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me. Their worship of me is based on merely human rules they have been taught. – Isaiah 29:13

Unfortunately, in churches everywhere, there are people who give God praise from their lips or tradition but their hearts are nowhere near him. They love the idea of going to church and being in the atmosphere...but have no real desire to truly seek God or draw near to him. They get caught up in the expressions of worship and forget it’s the heart of worship that really matters. That’s why Jesus said in John 4:23 –

Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in the Spirit and in truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks.

Be careful that your worship doesn’t just fall in line with what everyone else is doing. Make sure you are worshipping from a sincere place, a true heart. A heart that desires God when you are in the service and more importantly when you are not. This is what God desires.

Here’s a tip: if you know the lyrics and understand the message of the songs you are singing, it will help you worship from a pure place.

2. Are You Serving out of Relationship or for Acceptance?

“Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name and in your name drive out demons and in your name perform many miracles?’ Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!’ – Matthew 7:21-23

What’s fascinating about this scripture is the things people are doing aren’t bad, they just weren’t flowing out of a relationship with Christ, which is bad. It was like they are using the things they do to gain favor or win God’s approval.

There is no amount of things you could ever do that will cause God to accept you or love you more. The way to the Father is through Jesus Christ. Any other way is evil, even though we don’t often think of it in these terms.

If you are serving, then let your service to him flow out of your relationship with him. You serve him because you love him. You don’t serve him to get him to love you.

3. Are You the Center of Your Own Show?

Be careful not to practice your righteousness in front of others to be seen by them. If you do, you will have no reward from your Father in heaven. – Matthew 6:1

Jesus really jumps straight to the heart of the matter: why are you doing what you are doing? You might say you’re doing it for the right reason. But if you are doing it to be seen, then what you have thought in your heart? Jesus is encouraging us to be careful of the why because when you know that it reveals what’s really in your heart.

A close examination of Proverbs 23:7 (as a man thinks in his heart, so is he) can give you so much understanding. You and I need to always guard our hearts, paying close attention to what’s in them. You want to get to the place where everything you say is agreeing with everything that is truly in your heart. Because as you think, so are you.

A Prayer for Your Heart

Lord, let it be that the things that come from my mouth are a reflection of the true condition of my heart. Let the words of my mouth and the meditations of my heart be pleasing in your sight. For you Lord are my Rock and my Redeemer. Amen.

In this morning meditation from the Arbide App the song "keep Your Eyes Upon Jesus! I love the song.-

And it is a good way to control my anxiety-when I feel stressed or something happened this is a song I should use to bring me
back to my centre where Jesus is.

Most of my problems is when I obsess about things which take over my thinking, I am thinking about a photo I seen ages ago it says "overthinking the art of creating problems that we rent
even there" This is so me. So by keeping my eyes on Jesus will help me to control my thoughts-But with Gods help I am learning to capture every thought
and take it capture. To see if it's the truth or a Lie

I Love this scripture = 2 Corinthians 10:5
"we demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God and we take every thought to make it obedient to Christ"

I like the NLT because it says
we destroy every proud obstacle that keeps people from knowing God. we capture their rebellious thoughts and teach them to obey Christ.

Wow this is the MSG version
Verses 3-6 The world is unprincipled. Its dog-eat dog out there! The world dosent fight fair. But we dont live orfight our battles that way- never have never will. The tools of our trade aren't  for marketing or manipulation but they are for demolishing warped philosophies tearing down barriers erected against the truth of God- tools for smashing warped philosophies tearing down barriers
errected against the truth of God, fitting every loose thought and emotion and impulse into the structure of life shaped by Christ our tools are ready at hand for cleansing the ground of every obstruction and building lives obedience into maturity.

* I did live in a world like that but now I am a new creation in Christ. But there are still remnants of my old self so now I have to surrender totally to God so he can do what he wants in my life.

Those Who Have Ears

Page 83. - I8th August 2021.

Once again this scripture has came to me, so time to take
notice of it. Today it is in the message of my perpetual Calender
Marny's heart in a Martha world'.by Joanna Weaver.

When I google to see what scripture it was in , I noticed it is in a few.

Here what it said when 1 google it →
"Jesus said many times throughout the gospels of Matthew
Mark, and Lake-" He who has ears, let them hear' This is not Just some generic statement for Hey, everybody listen up! He is calling for people to take careful head "He who has ears" is every person, age, ethnic, language and occupation. He is saying this word is for all"

This is from a link I liked on uniondailytimes.com. Heres some
more info that stood out by Cathleen Cathcart.

"Now what are we doing with what we've heard? Does it causes us to cast judgement on others, or does it enlighten our inner man to be more conscious about our own actions? It should be the latter. The Word of God is for me, no matter who Is preaching or what someone else may have done to me this past week. When I read the Word
of God it should change me by making me aware of what I have been doing wrong, whether consciously or unconsciously. -.

* And I loved the prayer at the end, its exactly what I have been doing.

I pray. "Lord, let me reflect more on what I need to change. I have been guilty of looking at others wanting your word to change them, and all the while You have been speaking to me.Forgive me-Let me see others through your eyes and pray for them t receive Your word, and let me be reminded that I should be a
living example of your Grace and Mercy-In Jesus name.-Amen

It is also in the relations 2:29--whoever has ears, let them hear what the spirit says to the churches.-

 18th August Part 2- .

After I had written part 1. I looked over my notes that I had written over the last few days-and I have been blaming others
for the situations thats happening in my life.

I was watching a video by Joyce Meyer called suffering and at 5:06 on the
video-I became more tuned into the video and 1 sat up and took notes this is the one that blew me away.

• When you start studying the word you start seeing what a mess you are.You finally have to stop blaming it on others
and take a look at yourself, because the Word of God is like a mirror. And we see Christ in there so you see how far you
have to go.

This is when I got the first message about 'Those who have ears ..Listen"'.

It was on the same day that I had written that I was feeling so angry and I was blaming others for how I was feeling. It was Dueteronomy 6:4 "Hear,O Israel: the Lord our God, the Lord is one "

So it's time to HEAR AND LISTENto what God has to tell me. That is the problem with people today (Concluding Myself) we say we are listening but we are not- Selective hearing comes to mind--

The main points in my notes is we are to
Trust the Lord our God!
Rely on the Lord our God!
Abide in the Lord our God!

There is only one God who's voice we should listen to

As it said in my Devotional confident woman by Joyce Meyer on the 15th August 2021-To you it was shown, that you might realize and have personal knowledge that the Lord is God; there is no other beside Him. Out of Heaven He made you hear His voice, that He might correct discipline and admonish you, and on earth He made you see His great fire, and you Heard His words out of the midst of the June. Abide Meditation "Pride"

Time on meditation: 5:52 .....This verse clearly lays out 4 important steps in a cycles that God uses for maturing us in Christ

We Sin...We Fall....We Confess....We Grow Stronger. Then repeat, that simple and that hard When have you experienced those steps and that cycle

Time 6:52; Listen again as I read proverb 11:2 from the Amplified Bible " When pride comes boiling up with an arrogant attitude of self importance, then comes dishonor and shame, but with the humble the teachable who has been chisled by trial and who have learned to walk humbly with God. There is wisdom and soundness of mind

What one particular characteristics of Christ did you most identify with in this passage.

Time 7:59; We Sin, we fall, we confess, we grow stronger. Confessing is pritty humbling and pride often blocks that. Recall a recent time of confession and let the spirit examine your heart during quite meditation.

Time 8:52; After you fall after you confess are you open to learning in repentance. Are you open to the spirit guiding you to right living through others, that can be pretty humbling too. Ask the spirit to examine your heart even deeper for signs of resistance to learning new ways of walking with Christ.

Time 9:47; Listen one final time as I read and you meditate on Proverb 11:2 from the  Contemporary English Version.  "To much pride can put you to shame, it's wiser to be humble. We Sin we fall, we confess, we grow stronger, repeat!"

In 2 Samuel 12 after David's sin with Basheba the propher Nathan confronts David about his moral failure by telling him the story of two men in the city. One rich and one poor. David's anger burns against the rich man in the story when he hears of the injustice done to the poor man. When has someone needed to confront you about a sin

Time 11:19 When David tells Nathan  that the rich man should repay the poor man four fold for his sheep and that the rich man should die for what he had done. Nathan says four powerful words" You are the man" And David's response "I have sinned against the Lord"

How did you respond when you were confronted by your sin?

Time 12:22; David confessed and repented but had to suffer the consequence of his sin. The child born of the sin committed with Bethsheba tragically died. David suffered greatly for the pride that made him think it was ok for him to take the wife of one of his men,  but his repentance was complete and sincere.

Time 13:21; Pride caused David to fall. How can you keep yourself from such destruction?

Time 13:58 Lets pray...Oh dear Lord God I am so often so weak but thank you for making me aware of my weaknesses. Because my awareness helps brings humility and for that I'm eternally greatful. Help me be aware of my pride before I fall on my face.Help make me aware of my pride so I can stand firm by your stength in my humility. Remind me always that when pride comes, then comes disgrace. But with the humilty you bring then comes wisdom. I offer and pray this in the name of Jesus your son our savior and my Lord Amen

Stay a little longer if you can. Ask the spirit to reveal your own self-righteous pride and pray for someone to have the courage to approach you.

Be anxious for nothing Joyce Meyer

On page 64 it mentions that we have to stand in AWE of the Lord there is that word again The Awe of the Lord.

This word has come up a few times in the last few weeks. I have a picture in my room beside my Bible

We have to fear the Lord but as the Hebrew meaning says It is a Reverent Awe towards God not a kind of fear to be afraid of Him.

I am reading Joyce Meyers book Be anxious for nothing (the art of casting your cares and resting in God.)

On page 62 this stood out because this morning I  was reading Mornings With Jesus Devotional by Doreen Virtue and it also mentioned about being prideful.

So Proverbs 16:18 tells us exactly that we are warned about pride."pride goes before destruction and a haughty spirit before a fall.

The key to the abundant joyful peaceful life Jesus died to give us as is  humility. We need to learn to humble ourselves under the mighty hand of God so that he may exalt us in due time. One way we humble ourselves is by waiting on the Lord, refusing to move in the energy of the flesh. We need to learn to live one day at a time, being content where we are and with what we have until the lord leads us to something better.
