A Cheerful Heart Devotional

Day 1 : A Cheerful Heart.

The ground of your heart matters to God. A heart that’s submitted to God, produces His Fruit: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. When you allow the things and the cares of this world to contaminate your heart you’ll choke your peace and sabotage your joy.

The ground of your heart is critical to your spiritual, emotional and physical growth and development. Choose to guard the ground of your heart with the Word of God. There’s a difference between guarding your heart and hardening your heart.

When you guard your heart, you’re guarding the ground of your heart with the Word of God. His Word protects you. When you guard your heart, you’re allowing God’s Word to cultivate and till your ground. When you choose to allow the Word to cultivate and lead your heart, you’re choosing to live and walk by faith.

When your heart is hardened, you’re allowing fear, resentment, bitterness, pride and anger to take deep root. When your heart becomes hardened you’re allowing the cares and entanglements of this world to choke your harvest. Don’t allow the cares of the world to weigh you down and choke your harvest. Declutter the ground of your heart by submitting to God’s Word. When you follow God’s Word, you’ll get His results.

Proverbs 17:22 NIV

A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones.

Day 2 : Follow God’s Way.

Joshua‬ ‭1:8‬ ‭KJV‬‬ states, “This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.”

Follow God’s Word and you’ll have good success. Cultivate your ground with His Word and allow His Word to penetrate, navigate and pierce every area of your heart. Protect your heart with His Word. Feed your heart with His Word.

Watch your counsel. Consider the company you keep. Psalms‬ ‭1:1‬ ‭KJV‬‬ declares, “Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.” Your counsel is critical to your success. When you fill your life with good, Godly and wise counsel, you’ll have good success. Godly counsel will lead and direct your heart back to God’s Word. The Word of God will feed and water your soul. His Word will satisfy you in every season.

Ungodly counsel will lead you down a path of bitterness.  Bitter hearts produce bitter fruit. Contaminated hearts sow contaminated seed. Those who produce bitter fruit, will feed you bitter advice. Cast your cares to God, surround yourself with wise counsel and let God lead your heart.

Let His Word guide your path. Psalms‬ ‭23:1-3‬ ‭KJV‬‬ states, “The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.”

When God is your shepherd and overseer of your heart He will satisfy you. When you are connected to God, He will lead and guide every area of your heart. He will cause you to lie down and rest in green and peaceful pastures. His Word leads you down a path of peace and not chaos. When you follow His Word He will give you peace in chaos. He will still your storm. When you choose to fill your heart with His Word He will restore and refresh your soul. The ground of your heart flourishes when you feed yourself with His Word. Choose to nourish your heart with His Word.

Joshua 1:8 NIV - Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful.

Proverbs 4:23 NIV - Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.

Psalms 1:1 NIV - Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked or stand in the way that sinners take or sit in the company of mockers,

Psalm 23:1-3 - The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing.  He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters,  he refreshes my soul. He guides me along the right paths for his name sake

Day 2 : Come Unto Me.

Jesus states in Matthew‬ ‭11:28‬ ‭‬‬, “Come unto me...

If you’re weary, Jesus says, “Come unto me.” If you’re bitter, His Word says He’ll give you a new heart — a heart of flesh. If you’re full of anxiety, worry and fear, His Word says to cast your cares, fears, worries and anxiety to God — He cares for you.

If your vision is dry and your heart is tired of trying, Jesus said come unto me. Let His Word heal you. Let His Word make your soul happy. Let His peace overtake you. Let His joy fill your soul. Let His Word comfort you, protect you and guide you all the days of your life. Let His Word go before you and establish your path.

Surrender to Him and let His power crush every mountain and obstacle in your way. Let His Word heal your heart. He will never be defeated. Depression cannot stand in His presence. Oppression cannot stand in His presence. Rejection cannot stand in His presence. When you surrender to God, He will fight on your behalf.

Every enemy must bow to Him. Surrender to God, He is bigger than any mountain that you face. Stand still and surrender to God’s mighty hand and the enemy of depression, oppression, rejection, condemnation, guilt, shame, defeat, anxiety and the spirit of heaviness you will see no more.

Matthew 11:28 ESV - Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

Exodus 14:13 ESV - And Moses said to the people, "Fear not, stand firm, and see the salvation of the Lord , which he will work for you today. For the Egyptians whom you see today, you shall never see again.

Psalms 27:14 ESV - Wait for the Lord ; be strong, and let your heart take courage; wait for the Lord !
