wow in todays message from my devotional by Joseph Prince "THE ONE THING" it says "Jesus took your place of poverty at the cross".
Elaine told me at the prayer meeting last Friday (29th Aug 22) that I had a spirit of poverty. But I wasn't sure what she meant so I asked the lord to highlight it for me. At Church on Sunday Denise was talking about poverty (the video for Denise message is on on youtube : July 31st) She told the story of The Widows Offering Luke 21:1-4.
"He sat down opposite the treasury and observed how the crowd put money into the treasury. Many rich people put in large sums. A poor widow also came and put in two small coins worth a few cents. Calling his disciples to himself, he said to them, 'Amen, I say to you, this poor widow put in more than all the other contributors to the treasury. For they have all contributed from their surplus wealth, but she, from her poverty, has contributed all she had, her whole livelihood.'
* In my Life Recovery Bible here the insight from Luke 21:1-4....
21:1-4 God has a unique standard by which he measures giving and givers. With God, attitude counts more than amount, so Jesus praised this widow. A generous person is not one who gives conveniently and comfortably out of abundance. A generous person in God's eyes risks all, sacrifices cheerfully, and gives without demanding attention or expecting a reward. Whether it's our time, talents, or money, God wants us to turn everything in our lives over to his care. One small step in giving may become one giant leap toward recovery.
