Welcome to this abide meditation I’m Bonnie Currie I invite you to consider this question where does your strength come from take a deep breath and exhale slowly give that question some space to expand within you what gives you strength.
The enemy may tempt you to look for strength in the wrong places personal victories swelling bank account a full cup of coffee but the truth is that real strength comes from God the prophet Isaiah promises that they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength they shall mount up with wings like Eagles they shall run and not be weary I shall walk and not faint. What might that promise mean for you today.
You are strong but that strength comes from admitting your weakness and your need for God. When you call out to God, God will come to your rescue and give you all that you need to soar with Eagles ask God to deliver you and to give you strength to fly.
Your weakness is not a failing in fact being aware of your weakness is the true beginning of your strength.
Pray with me God I’m here confessing my weakness and waiting on you to deliver me strengthen me to do what you've called me to do and teach me how to embrace my weaknesses as ways that you can show yourself to be strong in my life help me to walk an to run in your power in Jesus name I pray Amen.
As you return to your breath begin to notice it moving in and out bringing life and health to your body this simple natural movement. As you breathe do a quick inventory of your body where are you feeling weak ask God to strengthen you.
Perhaps you’re already realising the ways in which you depend on your own power rather than relying on Christ Confess those sins or any other sins the spirit brings to mind to God right now.
God creates you a clean heart and renews your spirit God grants you the joy of salvation and sends the Holy Spirit to dwell with you and empower you to hear and follow him. Listen to Isaiah 40 verse 31 in the English standard version but they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength they shall mount up with wings like Eagles I shall run and not be weary they shall walk and not faint.
As I read that verse again listen for a word or phrase stands out to you but they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength they shall mount up with wings like Eagles I shall run and not be weary I shall walk and not faint what did you notice reflect on it with God
Why is it difficult for you to wait on God.
Listen to Isaiah 40 verse 31 in the amplified Bible but those who wait for the Lord who expect look for and hope in him will gain new strength and renew their power they will lift up their wings and rise up close to God like Eagles rising toward the sun they will run and not become weary they will walk and not grow tired.
Waiting is not a passive activity waiting for God is actively expecting and looking for God. How can you practise active waiting.
The strength that God gives is strength for God’s purposes. Strength that lifts you closer to God. That enables you to do what God calls you to do. Where do you need God to give you strength today.
Dear one ask God to give you what you need.
Listen to Isaiah 40 verse 31 in the new living translation “But those who trust in the Lord will find new strength they will soar high on wings like Eagles they will run and not grow weary they will walk and not faint”.
I want you to imagine yourself at the starting line of a marathon you've laced up your shoes but you're doubting whether or not you have the ability to run this race. Perhaps you hear a voice telling you that you’re too weak that you'll never be able to accomplish something like this and you wonder if you should just give up.
As the race begins you feel paralysed by the enormity of the task in front of you but the prophet Isaiah speaks to you he says have you never heard have you never understood the Lord is the everlasting God the creator of all the earth he never grows weak or weary. No one can measure the depths of his understanding can this truth about God give you the courage to start running.
As the race goes on you recognise again your own weakness your muscles shake as you run you realise your short Isaiah speaks again he gives power to the weak and strength to the powerless even youths will become weak and tired and young men will fall in exhaustion but those who trust in the Lord will find new strength. You turn to the Lord for strength to continue.
Again and again as you run you realise your own weakness but in God’s power you find that you can soar high on wings like Eagles you can run and not grow weary you can walk and not faint.
Please pray with me God I am waiting on you I believe that in my weakness you are strong. That you will fight on my behalf and that you will deliver me that you will give me all that I need thank you for sending Jesus to take on flesh and to be able to sympathise with all my weaknesses thank you God for saving me through him. It's in his name that I pray Amen.
Rest here as long as you like waiting on the Lord and renewing your strength an until next time may you abide in Christ.
I was listening to the Abide meditation this morning and I had read this scripture early, I actually had printed it out.
