I Am MAD At Me.

JUNE 22

 I AM MAD AT ME

Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. —PHILIPPIANS 1:2

Are you angry with yourself? Many people are. They have made mistakes, and even though they have asked for God’s forgiveness, they refuse to forgive themselves. This actually means they refuse to receive the gift of forgiveness that God is offering them. Our heavenly Father has already punished Jesus for our sins and mistakes, and He doesn’t want us to punish ourselves for a debt we do not owe.

Surely, if God, who is perfect, can forgive us, we can receive His gift and forgive ourselves. Let me encourage you today: Don’t be so hard on yourself, and don’t live with unrealistic expectations of yourself. You will make mistakes, and that is exactly why you need Jesus who freely offers you His grace and peace. Any anger in your heart will come out of you one way or another.

I know a woman who has an explosive temper, and it made everyone around her uncomfortable. When she finally got to the root of her anger, she discovered she was not angry with someone else, she was mad at herself. Each day she set unrealistic goals for herself, so every day she felt like a failure, and this made her more and more angry. She had to face her perfectionism and learn that her worth wasn’t in finishing her to-do list, but in Christ. She has since dealt with the problem and now enjoys a peaceful life.

If you are mad at yourself, the same freedom is available to you, and it is available today.

“Father, I pray that I would always receive Your forgiveness and not be angry with myself because of weaknesses, sins, and failures. Help me know that Your love is unconditional, and grant me grace to love myself in a godly and balanced way. Thank You. In Jesus’ name. Amen.”
