LADIES GROUP Gossiping and Backbitting
My ladies house group didnt end well for me last night. I was very uncomfortable when Myra was talking about Helen from my very first DNA group. Everybody talks about someone but it just turned into a bashing and my spirit was disturb.
I google about gossip and found this on this link...https://bible.org/seriespage/lesson-13-have-you-heard-about-gossip-2-samuel-13-15
The Hebrew word most often translated “slander” means to give an evil report about someone. The Greek word means to speak against someone. James says that if we do that, we make ourselves the judge of both our brother and God’s law, usurping God’s rightful place (
James 4:11, 12).
Don’t bad-mouth each other, friends. It’s God’s Word, his Message, his Royal Rule, that takes a beating in that kind of talk. You’re supposed to be honoring the Message, not writing graffiti all over it. God is in charge of deciding human destiny. Who do you think you are to meddle in the destiny of others?
James 4:11-12 MSG
Summary – Gossip vs Slander
Both gossip and slander involve talking about others when they are not present. While both are bad habits, slander is worse than gossip. The key difference between gossip and slander is that gossip does not usually start with the intention of harming someone whereas slander is a deliberate attempt to harm someone’s reputation.
