Solomon...Good and Evil.

Today's Devotional

What’s Happening?

David’s son Solomon has taken the throne. Immediately we’re told that Solomon loves the Lord (1 Kings 3:3a). And the Lord loves Solomon as well. As Solomon sacrifices 1,000 burnt offerings, God comes to him in a dream and says he will answer any request (1 Kings 3:5). Recognizing his own inexperience and immaturity, Solomon asks for wisdom and the ability to know the difference between good and evil (1 Kings 3:9).

God is thrilled with this request (1 Kings 3:10). He not only gives Solomon an unparalleled mind but everything he didn’t ask for—riches, honor, and a long life—provided he remains faithful to God’s law (1 Kings 3:12-14).

As soon as Solomon wakes from his dream, God’s wisdom is put to the test. A custody battle between two prostitutes is brought into Solomon’s court (1 Kings 3:16). Quickly Solomon realizes this case is just one woman’s word against another’s (1 Kings 3:23). He can never prove who is telling the truth based on their testimony. So, he threatens to cut the baby in two knowing that the real mother would never allow this to happen (1 Kings 3:27). In that moment, it’s apparent that God has granted Solomon’s request for wisdom. He’s wisely able to determine good from evil and bring justice to bear (1 Kings 3:28).

The kingdom seems to explode in response. Israel is “as numerous as the sand on the seashore” (1 Kings 4:20). That wording is taken from God’s promise to Abraham, and it’s the first time it is used as a description of Israel. That same phrase is also repeated to describe Solomon’s breadth of mind (1 Kings 4:29-30). God gives Solomon wisdom broad enough to rule the growing kingdom.

Drawing on imagery from creation, Solomon’s wisdom is described seven times. He understands the beasts, birds, and trees (1 Kings 4:33). He has “dominion” over Israel like Adam did over Eden (1 Kings 4:24). And every family rests in peace under their own fig trees and grape vines (1 Kings 4:25). All the nations of the world come to be blessed by his wisdom (1 Kings 4:34). And Solomon makes plans to finally build God’s temple on the earth (1 Kings 5:5). Just as in the garden, man and God will walk together again!

Where is the Gospel?

When Solomon asks for wisdom to know both good and evil, it's a reference to the garden of Eden. Adam was told not to eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil (Genesis 2:16). Since everything was “good” in the garden, there was no reason to know “evil.” But since Solomon lived in a world where not everything was good, and the line between good and evil was often blurred, he needed to know both. And once he did, Eden seemed to return.

In a world after Eden only a wise King can bring us the blessing God promised Abraham and the peace and provision Adam and Eve knew. Like the wronged woman, we need a King who can see good and evil clearly and provide wise justice; not just when we’ve been wronged but when we don’t know what’s right.

That wise King is Jesus. Like Solomon asked for wisdom and was given wealth and power, and like the woman asked for justice and was given a son, we look for wisdom in Jesus. Then we’re given a place in his eternal Kingdom and all the blessing and peace that comes with it (Matthew 6:33). And while we wait for Jesus’ Kingdom to come, our Bible contains the wisdom we need to know and do good works in an evil world (2 Timothy 3:16).

Jesus wants to rule wisely in our favor. So like both the wronged woman and Solomon, humble yourself before the wisdom of King Jesus and receive the justice and peace of a New Creation.

See For Yourself

May the Holy Spirit open your eyes to see the God who is wise. And may you see Jesus as God’s wise King who establishes a Kingdom of peace on the earth.

Obey The Word

OBEY IS THE KEY...... 🗝

Be careful of overthinking God’s Word, and simply obey it. This will help you protect yourself against deception.....From today's Devotional by  Joyce Meyer.

Psalm 119 begins with a call to obey God’s Word. God will bless us, the Bible says, not if we have God’s Word, read God’s Word, or study God’s Word. No, God will bless us if we obey God’s Word, if we walk according to it. “Blessed are those whose way is blameless, who walk in the law of the Lord!” Obedience is a major theme of Psalm 119....From "Oxygen For My Soul" Bible Plan.

Prompt obedience is the only result. When Jesus says, “Come,” I simply come; when He says, “Let go,” I let go; when He says, “Trust God in this matter,” I trust. This work of obedience is the evidence that the nature of God is in me.....The promises of God are of no value to us until, through obedience, we come to understand the nature of God. We may read some things in the Bible every day for a year and they may mean nothing to us. Then, because we have been obedient to God in some small detail, we suddenly see what God means and His nature is instantly opened up to us....From My Upmost For His Highest

Principles To Live By...

It's funny I was looking for a Scripture to help me with my fear of all the different people coming to stay in the UK.

It's all these matches just now I'm seeing that's making me afraid. To be honest it's the Muslims mostly that's taken over. They don't like Christians so that's why I am afraid.

So I was blaming the government for letting them in. Then the first thing I saw this morning was this short video from

So let God deal with it 🙏 what ever happens is going to happen. My goals are the principles of my Church ... To love God...love People..love Life.. 😇🥰

I was reading my Bible there and I had to laugh this is definitely God's Word...

BE COMPASSIONATE TO FOREIGNERS WITHOUT COMPLAINING!!!!

Stories Of The Bible.

I love to hear stories from the Bible. I can learn better that way. Maybe that's why Jesus spoke in parables

A parable is a short story that teaches a moral or religious lesson. Parables are often found in the Bible, particularly in the New Testament gospels. Jesus is credited with many parables, including the parable of the Good Samaritan and the parable of the Prodigal Son.

This morning i was thinking of the blog i had written about james my nephew. I was angry with him and was going to detach myself from him but then I read one of joyce meyers devotional. It was on the 4th November

The scripture was Luke 15 " THE PARABLE OF THE LOST LAMB" So i went to my Bible ansd read the parable of the lost lamb...and I loved what it said in the foot notes " WHAT A WONDERFUL PICTURE TIS GIVE US OF OUR" GOOD SHEPHERD " HE DOSENT BEAT THE LOST SHEEP FOR WANDERING AWAY. HE RAISES IT UP AND CARRIES IT HOME.

Life Is Like A Stage...This is my story.

The history of the stage is littered with stories of bit parts that turned into starring roles and indelible characters that were expanded in future adaptations. But even this begins with acceptance and understanding—and a desire to excel at what we have been assigned....from today's Daily Stoics.

Then it made me think of the Bible. It is full of stories of bit parts that turned into starring roles.

I choose to put in order my thoughts and hang the walls of my mind with pictures of whatsoever things are lovely and of good report. Joseph Murphy Do I have the power to choose my thoughts, my moods? Yes! I can choose to put love at the center of my being, so its warmth and cheer will be with me always. I do not have to let the world’s doings dictate my moods. I can determine what I want to think about, how I want to be. When I pray and meditate, I choose faith; I expect the best and make room for it in my mind. I choose to let God’s light be my strength and my joy. For today: I choose things that are lovely to put in my mind.

Eyeslave Daily Devotion.November 8
Read: Jeremiah 49; II Corinthians 9-10 II Corinthians 10:18 “For not he that commendeth himself is approved, but whom the Lord commendeth.” We must constantly guard our hearts from desiring the approval of men at the sake of disapproval from God. It is so easy to fall into that trap. There is an indicator called peace that helps us keep our heart right in this matter. If you have the approval of men but lack peace, then you don’t have God’s approval. If all men were to hate you for what you say or do, but you have God’s approval, then the peace of God will strengthen you against all those who would rail against you. Commend your ways to the Lord and enjoy His peace. David said in the Psalm 34, “…Seek peace, and pursue it.” Living by God’s approval is one great way to seek peace.

Read today's 31 days of hope for overeating .....In it it mentions our body is a temple. But I also liked what it said about not listening to the world's advice but to God's advice 🙏

Scripture not in all Bibles

I read this in the passion version....Matthew 23:14 but it is not in some versions.

Some of the earliest and best manuscripts of Matthew do not include this verse. Many modern translations, including the ESV and the NIV, either skip or include the verse in brackets. Parallel accounts
Mark 12:40 and Luke 20:47

Jesus Friend Of Sinners.

#Joyce Myere Devotional..."We need to be very careful about our attitude toward sinners. We should not have a “religious attitude” that ignores or belittles them because they are not living in accordance with God’s Word. Remember, at one time all of us were in the same condition that they are in now. There is no one who has not sinned, and there is no one who cannot be justified through faith in Christ (Romans 3:23–24)."

Here is the rest of it ....NOVEMBER 4.

JESUS LOVES SINNERS

Now the tax collectors and sinners were all gathering around to hear Jesus. But the Pharisees and the teachers of the law muttered, “This man welcomes sinners and eats with them.” —LUKE 15:1–2

We need to be very careful about our attitude toward sinners. We should not have a “religious attitude” that ignores or belittles them because they are not living in accordance with God’s Word. Remember, at one time all of us were in the same condition that they are in now. There is no one who has not sinned, and there is no one who cannot be justified through faith in Christ (Romans 3:23–24). Show love to sinners without agreeing with their sinful lifestyle. If they never interact with Christians, how will they see Jesus? People whose lifestyles don’t agree with God’s Word don’t need to become our best friends or people with whom we spend excessive amounts of time, but neither should we treat them as though we are better than they are. Jesus welcomed sinners without agreeing with their sinful ways. He spoke the truth to them in love, and love is what most people are hungry for. If we show love to people, we can draw them to Christ. Ask the Lord to send sinners into your path so you can show them Christ’s love and pray for them. We should always have empathy and mercy for sinners and never judge them, because we don’t know what their lives have been like and why they make the choices they make. Always keep in mind that “mercy triumphs over judgment” (James 2:13). “Father, help me not to have judgmental attitudes toward sinners, but to love them and pray for them. In Jesus’ name. Amen.”

I just love this, it has helped me with my anger with James. I am still angry but I don't want him to think he is alone. Addiction is a horrible disease but we need to take responsibility. I wouldn't being doing my job as an aunty/ God-Mother if I don't tell him about the consequences of his actions.

As Joyce said "Remember, at one time we all were in the same condition that they are in now.

And I was in that condition, that's why I need to be honest with him and speak the truth with love.

The other night I video this before I knew James had taken cocaine laced with fentalyn. As the doctor said "young one are supposed to learn from their mistakes not die from them"

Practice What You Preach

Jesus issues seven woes directly to the Pharisees and scribes. They preach a version of the truth, but they do not live it.

* You might ask yourself, “How can I avoid being like the Pharisees that Jesus rebukes?”

*There’s much we can learn from Jesus’ stern words—including “practice what you preach”—but one lesson stands above the rest: Do not reject Jesus.

*The Pharisees are like a son who says he will obey his father (Matthew 21:28-32), but their rejection of Jesus shows they will not. They are like tenants of a vineyard who foolishly plan to kill their master’s son (Matthew 21:38). And they are like ignorant guests, refusing an invitation to a great wedding feast (Matthew 22:5).

How can we not be like the Pharisees? Accept Jesus!...from Today's Devotional

                      (Matthew 22:5).

The parable of the two sons is the story Myra spoke about at our group on Friday. What stood out for me was I said that some people preach on the platform but don't live it out them selves. But Myra said never bother about the person but the message.

But I think this is wrong I feel they are false just like the pharisees. I was like this in recovery. I would look to see how that person lived before I took their advice. Many loved to tell you what to do but don't do it themselves..

So as it says in the Devotional if we dont want to be like the pharisees

WE MUST PRACTICE WHAT WE PREACH.

Plow Through Distractions

When I was reading today's message on my perpetual calender in my kitchen. It reminded me of something I read the other day.

I found it, it was from my Celebrate Recovery Devotional Day 301. And it's the same message about keeping your focus on God and PLOWING THROUGH THE DISTRACTIONS.

Calender :
Each time you plow your way through the massive distractions to communicate with Me, you achieve a victory.

 Celebrate Recovery Devotional :
Each time you plow your way through the massive distractions to communicate with me, you achieve victory

Now these are two totally different things but the have the exact same message, word for word. Is that not amazing wow !!!!
