Haste Makes Waste

It's funny when I started to read today's Devotional from Joyce Meyer book Strength For Each Day. I remember I heard this phrase the other day " Haste leads to waste"

APRIL 19 SLOW DOWN

Enthusiasm without knowledge is no good; haste makes mistakes. —PROVERBS 19:2 NLT

Society has most of us rushing anxiously from one thing to another and expecting everyone and everything to move quickly so that we will never have to wait on anything. When we feel frustrated and impatient because it takes a few seconds longer than normal for the Internet to pull up the answer to a question we have asked, we might take that as a sign that life has become too hurried.

Although the world is moving at a faster pace all the time, God is not in a hurry. He is extremely patient. If we intend to move in step with God throughout our daily life, we will need to slow down. I tend to think that the more we rush, the more we miss what God wants to show us and say to us.

I encourage you to take a break from rushing. Try walking more slowly, taking some deep breaths several times day, and focusing on one thing at a time. Take time to think, and don’t make decisions too quickly, because that often leads to regret.

“Father, I want to walk in step with You. I realize that doing so means I need to slow down. Please help me do things at Your pace rather than the world’s. In Jesus’ name. Amen.”
