Show Mercy

JANUARY 25

MERCY

So be merciful (sympathetic, tender, responsive, and compassionate) even as your Father is [all these]. —LUKE 6:36 AMPC

I have recently been thinking about mercy and how important it is in our lives. God is merciful, and without His mercy, our sins would consume us. Jeremiah writes in Lamentations 3:22–23 that God’s mercies are new every morning. If you need mercy, take a moment and receive it right now by faith as a gift from God. We are to be merciful toward others, just as our Father is merciful toward us. Is there anyone in your life to whom you need to extend mercy? If so, I urge you not to put it off. Anger is a useless emotion that is not the will of God. Its effect on us is not beneficial. In contrast, when we give mercy to others in their failures, we not only help them, but we also help ourselves. “Father, Your mercy is beautiful, and I am grateful for it. Help me be a merciful person at all times. Thank You. In Jesus’ name. Amen.”
