The Mighty Hand Of The Lord.

This morning I was listening to this video by Steven Futrick called The Other Hand

Then about an hour later I read this in my new book by Joyce Meyer called " Be Anxious For Nothing"

What stood out to me. Both were talking about Gods mighty hand.

This is so true I am too much of the flesh so I need to depend on the Spirit more. Then I wont be so anxious as the tittle of Joyce book is. Plus on the cover of her book it says " The Art of Casting Your Cares and Resting in God."

At the bottom of page 39 it reads " As we read in Hebrews 4:10  those who have entered the rest of God have given up all their own labor and sriving- the weariness and pain of trying to give birth to things in a natural way-and simply are resting, waiting upon the Lord to do for them what they cannot do for themselves. As a consequence, they end up having more children-enjoying more and better results-than those who try to produce by their own works.

Fear of the Lord (Awe of the Lord)

This video from aussie Dave was in my notifications today and I love it. It makes so much sense when he describes the meaning of the word fear in hebrew. Its YIRAH,  and it means in Awe of something.

The Theme of this meditation from proverbs 21 is learning to avoid some of life's nonsense so you can discover the
good gifts of life, success and honor.

Ponder that as you receive this prayer of benediction to remember that even though the world can distract you to walk

Abide Meditation-Facing chronic Fear... John 14:26-27

"But when the father sends the Advocate as my representative-that is, The Holy Spirit-he will teach you everything and will remind you of everything I have told you. 27 I am leaving you with a gift- peace of mind and heart. And the peace l give is a gift the world cannot give. So dont be troubled or afraid.

Recovery Principle Devotional. 'LOVE "read John 14:15-26

Real love brings security into our lives. For many of us, feelings of insecurity contribute to the power of our dependencies. Believing that love can bring lasting security may be hard for those of us who have been abandoned. Maybe someone we loved betrayed our trust. Perhaps someone turned away from us when we betrayed theirs, it could be that someone we needed died, leaving us permantely.

Gods love is unconditional and always waiting for us, Turning our lives over to God involves opening the door of our hearts to live his love- Filling up on God's love helps us to avoid relapses. It meets
us at our deepest need and overcomes our most powerful insecurities

Jesus promised "No, I will not abandon you as orphans'

I loved todays meditation on the Abide App ...Overcoming The Anxious Mind.

Philippians 4:6-7.... - "Do not worry about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving
My Life Recovery Bible (NLT) →
Dont worry about anything, instead, pray about everything.Tell God what you need, and thank Him for all He has done.
Then you will experience God's peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your heart and minds as you are in Christ Jesus.

Insight from Bible.... True happiness can be found in every situations of life when we recognise that God is at work and
always in control. Because Christ is with us and his return is certain, we can act calmly in pain and difficulty. Peace
and joy come when we focus on those things that provide Lasting values to our lives. The more we commit ourselves to knowing God's will through prayer and study of Hes word, the better
prepared we are to help ourselves and others in the process of recovery.

Meditation 8:36.....When we are anxious sometimes we try to treat our anxiety in unhealthy ways, we numb it with too much alcohol or try to forget it through over work or turn to gossip about others as a way to make ourselves feel better about ourselves. what are the unhealthy ways you try to treat your anxiety.

9:36-One right thing to do about our worries Paul says is to take them to God in prayer. Other tools God has given us to help with anxiety include trustworthy friends, the church, exercise, therapy
and medicine .

You should always turn to God in prayer, But you can also find help in these other tools God has given.

Do not be wise in your own eyes; Fear the Lord and depart from evil.  It will be health to your flesh, And strength to your bones. Proverbs 3:7-8 (NKJV)

     The Path Toward God

The theme of this meditation from Proverbs 3 is finding the path towards God and discovering that you aren’t lost and God is not missing.

Let me pray a prayer of benediction to remember to be careful to not be wise in your own eyes; Fear the Lord and depart from evil.  It will be health to your flesh, and strength to your bones. May you choose the way of Christ, the guidance of the Holy Spirit, and the wisdom of God at this moment and always. Amen.

In our summer Bible study this week, the theme was

Anointing.

We looked at how David was chosen by God for a specific task – king over His people. This was an anointing or CALL for service.

Just like David was anointed for a higher purpose, we are anointed by God’s Spirit to fulfill our call as Christ-followers on the earth.

THIS is what the Christian life is all about!

I love to get excited and dream big with God about who He’s calling me to BE . . . I hope you do too.

However, I realize that the excitement is hard to hold onto in the ordinariness of our day-to-day living. There is much waiting and wondering that goes along with it.

For all the ordinary days of your life, here’s another picture of anointing. David knew this very well, and he wrote about it in Psalm 23 – the Shepherd’s Psalm. In this psalm, God is the Shepherd and we are His sheep, so when verse 5 says – “he anoints my head with oil” – David is reminding us of what a shepherd does for his sheep. This is different than the anointing that David received as king. This is daily; this is ordinary.

There are 3 reasons for a sheep to receive daily anointing of oil.

1. Bugs. Sheep are particularly susceptible to flies landing on their noses. These flies travel up the sheep’s nose and lay eggs which turn into worms that can burrow into the animal’s brain. Then the sheep will bang their heads, trying to get rid of the irritation. They can die from this. So, each day the shepherd pours oil on the sheep’s nose, and the flies slide out instead of flying in.

I don’t know about you, but I certainly have a lot of daily irritations buzzing around my head – rude actions, bothersome comments, pesky mishaps. Some of those get in my head and cause negative thoughts – angry, fearful, sinful thoughts. And if I allow them to burrow deeper into my mind, they become part of my life and can destroy me.

But I have a Good Shepherd, and He promises if I come to Him every day, He will anoint my head with oil. I can come back to him many times a day – and I do! In prayer, I bring the Shepherd all the little irritations and bothersome thoughts that cause me discomfort before they can gain a foothold in my mind.

2. Butts. As in butting heads. Sheep will butt heads with one another to gain position and assert authority. Male sheep especially like to butt heads, but in people, we all do that, don’t we?

A shepherd knows his sheep will clash sometimes and he can’t prevent it, so he puts oil or grease on their heads. When they clash, their heads glance off without doing much harm to one another.

Our Good Shepherd knows we can’t always avoid disagreements . . . but praying with and for one another is one way we can keep from harming each other when we butt heads.

3. Cuts. Sheep live outdoors – with barbed fences, thistles, rocks, sticks, predators. It’s not a kind, gentle setting. Even the greenest pastures have hazards. So, shepherds check their sheep each day, sometimes morning and evening, to look for wounds that need attention. Adding oil to the wound brings healing.

We live in a dangerous world too. And we get wounded – sometimes daily. One of the worst sayings from childhood is “sticks and stones may break my bones, but words can never hurt me.” Well, that’s just not true; words CAN and DO hurt us. They cause wounds that can go much deeper than sticks and stones. Wounds that only the Good Shepherd can heal.

Each of us is wounded by all kinds of things. And Jesus is attentive to all our wounds – physical, emotional, mental and spiritual. Daily, honest communication with Jesus is the best way to find healing.

If we want to live im the power of the anointing of the Holy Spirit, we must recognize the tender, daily provision our Good Shepherd offers us as His sheep. It reminds me that I need Him every hour of every day.

Psalm 23..

"Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies; thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over."
Psalm 23:5

One of the most famous and most popular Psalms in all of Scripture is Psalm 23.

“The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever” (KJV).

The popularity of this Psalm goes beyond just the world of the church but extends to the secular world as well, finding its way into contemporary films and songs. The goal today is to give you an overview of this psalm, but I want to put a special emphasis on the meaning and context of the phrase “My cup runneth over,” in Psalm 23:5.

Why This Psalm of David's Is So Meaningful

Most people associate the Psalms with David, which is understandable. The truth is he only wrote about half of the Psalms, while the rest were written by a number of different writers. However, Psalm 23 was written by David, most likely during the time he was a king and possibly towards the end of his life.

David started out as a shepherd, taking care of his father’s sheep. This knowledge allowed him to be familiar with the behavior of a shepherd but also with the behavior of sheep. One of the reasons it is believed this Psalm was written when David was king, and not when he was a young shepherd, is because he mentions his enemies.

Prior to David killing Goliath, he had no enemies – unless you consider his brothers as enemies. After killing Goliath and when he became a great military leader, that is when the enemies came. However, the tone of this Psalm is not of a young, inexperienced man but of a seasoned veteran who has seen the hand of God show up time after time in his life.

In verse four of this Psalm, David mentions the “valley of the shadow of death.” The word used here for the shadow of death is tsalmaveth which actually means death-like shadow or deep shadow. This verse is not a moratorium on God’s presence when we face death, even though God is with us during that time. This verse speaks to God’s presence when we face the most difficult and darkest times in our lives.

You can be confident that no matter how challenging, dark or difficult the situation you face, God will always be with you and will never forsake you. In fact, some other translations such as the NIV or NLT translate this verse with the phrase “the darkest valley.”

With that being said, let’s turn our attention to the meaning and context of the phrase “my cup runneth over,” which is part of verse five. Let’s consider each section of this verse.

Breaking Down Psalm 23

Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies

We have seen already that God’s presence will go with you even in the darkest times. What God also promises is that his provision and protection will watch over you as well. God prepares a table for his sheep.

The use of the language “in the presence of mine enemies” lets us know that the prepared table is not just for anyone, but specifically for those who are in relationship with him. Even in the midst of trouble, dark times and yes even enemies, God will give you a table of provision and protection. It doesn’t matter what is going on around you.

Thou anointest my head with oil

In the Old Testament, oil was symbolic of the Holy Spirit. So not only is God sending his presence, provision and protection, he is also providing you with power. Power to endure. Power to lead. Power to make wise decisions. When David was chosen by Samuel as king of Israel, he was anointed with oil. This was God’s way of setting David apart and selecting him for his special use.

This is also what Jesus promised in Acts 1:8:

“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”

God has put his Holy Spirit in you so you can become what he wants you to be.

My cup runneth over

In this instance, David is using this expression to help us understand the abounding and overflowing nature of God’s presence, provision, protection and power. God’s blessing upon David wasn’t just for his life but it was designed to spill over so it could bless others. It is the same with you.

God’s channel of blessing is not so that you can hoard it and keep it to yourself. He provides, and the overflow of his provision is designed to be poured out to others. It also is a reminder that God’s supply will never run dry. God has more than enough to help you regardless of your situation. His presence has no boundaries. His provision has no expiration. His protection can’t be penetrated. His power has no equal.

Why Does David Say His Cup Runs Over?

The reason David could say this is because he had seen God work over and over in his life. David had history with God. It started when he defeated and killed Goliath and continued throughout his lifetime. In one instance in 2 Samuel 5, after David was king, the Philistines mobilized to capture him. They had spread out in the Valley of Rephaim with the intention of overtaking David. Verse 19 tells us,

“So David inquired of the LORD, ‘Shall I go and attack the Philistines? Will you deliver them into my hands?’ The LORD answered him, ‘Go, for I will surely deliver the Philistines into your hands.’"

David lived his life lining up with the Shepherd, which was The Lord Almighty. He knew that as long as he was under God’s leadership and direction he would be safe. This pattern displayed in David’s life gave him the confidence to know that God would always be with him and would always protect him. By the way here’s how the story ended:

“So David went to Baal Perazim, and there he defeated them. He said, ‘As waters break out, the LORD has broken out against my enemies before me.’ So that place was called Baal Perazim” (2 Samuel 5:20).

God didn’t just protect him, he delivered David from his enemies. This protection and deliverance was a constant in David’s life.

How Can You Know That God Will Protect You?

There is really only one answer to this question – because he said he would. Here are three promises you can put your faith and confidence in.

John 10:27-30 – “My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one will snatch them out of my hand. My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all; no one can snatch them out of my Father’s hand. I and the Father are one.”

2 Corinthians 1:18-20 – “But as surely as God is faithful, our message to you is not ‘Yes’ and ‘No.’ For the Son of God, Jesus Christ, who was preached among you by us—by me and Silas and Timothy—was not ‘Yes’ and ‘No,’ but in him it has always been ‘Yes.’ For no matter how many promises God has made, they are ‘Yes’ in Christ. And so through him the ‘Amen’ is spoken by us to the glory of God.”

Deuteronomy 31:8 – “The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.”

God is faithful and true and he will uphold his word. This is the source of your hope, your peace and your comfort. God will keep his word.

There is only one question to ask at this point – Is the Lord your shepherd? If the answer to this question is yes then all of the promises of Psalm 23 belong to you. Not only do the promises apply, but the meaning and context of the phrase “my cup runneth over” applies as well.

Being in the care of the Great Shepherd is truly a wonderful place where God is the source of everything you need. His promises and provisions for you will spill over and out so that you can be a blessing to others.

John 15:7... Always there "Encounter Meditation"

This meditation from the fifteenth chapter of John will help you remember the hope you have in worshiping a strong tower that never moves. The hope
of living and abiding in a home that will never crumble, worshiping a God that remains.

The picture for the meditation is of a lighthouse. When I saw the picture a song came to mind that use to get played in The Kings church Motherwell that I use to go to. Its by Rend Collective called 'My Lighthouse.

15:7-But if you remain on me and my words remain in you, you may ask for anything you want, and itwill be granted.

This morning I was praying for a new house. I want to move backup to Motherwell-I was so happy up there.

So I ask the Lord to hear my cries so that I can get a new house in a nice area in Motherwell not like here.

I think its because I grew up here and as Jesus was not appreciated in his own town, because they did not believe in Him and they dont believe what I believe in  here also. Plus sometimes I can feel being pulled into the world here(my old ways).

In Motherwell I was blossoming into the person God wanted me to be I could be honest and open with the church people.

I loved what it said in the encounter app for this meditation

Have you felt lost tossed on your journey of late? (My words - *Oh Yes)
seeking what feels lost? scrambling for whats been tossed?

Prayer : Now Let me pray that you remember that if you make yourself at home with God and his words are at home in you, you can be sure that whatever you ask will be listened to and acted upon this is how your father shows who He is - when he cares for those in His care. Those who remember He is always there Amen.

In The Presence Of My Enemies.

“He prepares a table before me in the presence of my enemies”

This verse of Psalm 23 is usually not one that is given much attention.  Honestly, it can be a bit confusing.  One of the first things that popped into my head the first time I really started to study this particular verse was, “Why doesn’t God just take our enemies away instead of preparing a table for us in their presence?”  Doesn’t it seem like it would just be easier for God to remove our enemies, rather than to set a table before us in their presence?  God certainly has the power to remove any enemy we have in front of us, so why not just get rid of them so we can relax?

Where did this come from?
The actual origin of this verse is pretty cool and really sheds some light on the meaning of setting a table in the presence of enemies.  The meaning has to do with the way shepherds made a pasture safe for sheep to graze in before the sheep arrived in the pasture.  Shepherds were known to carry a variety of tools with them while they were shepherding.  They had their staff for guidance of the sheep, their rod for protection of the sheep, their sling for hunting and self-defense, and oil which was used for a multitude of things.  The oil was usually carried in a hollowed out horn or a bladder of some sort and was used for several reasons while shepherding, but with regard to preparing a pasture for the sheep to graze in, it was used for safety.

Before shepherds would allow the sheep to enter a pasture to graze, they would walk every square foot of the pasture looking for holes in the ground about 1.5” – 2” in diameter.  These holes in the ground of a pasture are known to be home to poisonous snakes that lie in wait for a sheep or other animals to start grazing in the pasture, then come out and nip the animal on the nose which causes swelling and difficulty breathing.  Eventually this would result in closing the airways completely as well as an increased heart rate; the combination of these two things would usually kill the animal a short time after the bite takes place.

To prevent the snake bites from happening in the first place, the shepherd would take his staff or rod and put the end of it in the hole, then pour oil into a groove toward the bottom of the staff, allowing the oil to run into the snake hole.  This would lubricate the hole which would prevent the snake from making it up to the top of the hole to harm the sheep; they would just keep slipping back down into the hole when they tried to slither out to harm the sheep.  Once the shepherd was finished pouring oil into every snake hole in the pasture, he would then allow the sheep to come and eat in the field.  The shepherd was literally preparing a table before the sheep in the presence of their enemies.

Isn’t it amazing how God does the same for us in our lives?  God does not remove the dangers in our lives, but He does provide us with the proper protection to be safe when we are surrounded by our enemies without being harmed.  God anoints us spiritually with His oil, like a Good Shepherd, not allowing any harm to come to us.  Sometimes, we can get caught up in the fact that we are surrounded by our enemies and end up feeling hopeless and helpless.  Distraction and misdirection are tools the devil uses to make us lose focus on God.  The devil loves when we feel hopeless because he knows he has found a way to make us doubt our relationship with God.

It seems that every time you go deeper with your faith and start to feel closer to God, the devil increases the temptations in your life tenfold.  You can always tell when you are on the right path to a better relationship with God because that is where the devil is waiting to tempt you.  Even Jesus, once He was baptized and God’s voice thundered from Heaven announcing “This is My Son”, faced temptation immediately afterward by being driven into the desert by the Holy Spirit to be tempted by the devil!  The devil knows that a relationship with God is a dangerous relationship.  The devil does not stop at one temptation.  Scripture tells us that after Jesus rebukes the devil, the devil departed from Jesus until an opportune time:  Luke 4:13 Now when the devil had ended every temptation, he departed from Him until an opportune time.

Three facts…
We never stop being tempted.
We are not perfect in our human form.
We need God to protect us at all times.
God knows and understands that the Spirit is willing but the flesh is weak.  He created us this way.  We need the Shepherd!  Our close intimate relationship with God makes the devil nervous.  That’s why he steps up his game when we get closer to God in our hearts.  He uses whatever tricks he can to keep us from becoming holier.  When you feel temptation, know that you are on the right path to getting closer to God, and know that you are making the devil nervous!  Also know that with God by your side, you have the power to resist that temptation.

It will be OK!
Trust in God in all things and know that He will always lead you through the tough times – even if you do not understand why He has led you there to begin with.  Spend some time today reflecting on where you are tempted to pull away from God, and ask God to be there with you to fight that temptation and overcome it.  You are never alone when God is at your side…and He is always at your side!

Those we condemn too make our wrongs seem less in comparison. Then we can get back to looking within ourselves. We all contain some residue of wrong doing. When we admit this to God, to ourselves, and to others we will experience the cleansing of humility and forgiveness. Then we will have a life that can bring refreshment to others.

Prayer: Father I dont want hypocrisy in my life. I dont want to appear to be something on the surface yet inside be something completely different. Father cleanse my heart, forgive my sins. I pray for grace and wisdom to bring blessings in your name. I ask that you will work within me and root out anything ugly and false in my life. I want your truth to shine out of my life and I want nothing to do with anything else. No matter how difficult it is. Please show me if I need to deal with any double standards I might have. Let my life shine forth your truth and love, In Jesus name I pray....Amen

Page Fourteen Of My Rowrite Journal

page 14...I looked up Luke 13:10-17 in my Recovery Bible
and I loved what it said.

13:10-13-Jesus cared for social outcasts, emotional and physical cripples, and those in spiritual bondage. This handicapped woman was hurting in all three respects. In eighteen years she had probably tried everything to be healed, but now was resigned to her painful limitations. Then power of an evil spirit had crippled her. But the power of Jesus Christ Knows no limitations.

Jesus healed this woman who had given up all hope for a new life. He can do the same for us by bringing us healing and deliverance.

In my prayer book I also read the scripture on page 117..."Six Woes" Luke 11:37-54

Then I looked that up in my Recovery Bible and loved the
insight they had for these verses. We often protect ourselves by focusing our attention on other people and their behaviors. That way we dont have to examine our own.

We often stay in relationships in which we seem powerless, for in doing so, we maintain built-in excuses for failure. We also spend time looking down on others who are "worse" than we are thus avoiding an examination of our own corruption. But in doing these things, we fail to take responsibility for our own lives through honest self-examination.

Jesus confronted the pharisees, saying, "you Pharisees are so careful to clean the outside of the cup and the dish, but
inside you are filthy- full of greed and wickedness "Luke 11:3-9)
Can you imagine washing only the outside of a cup that is moldy on the inside and then drinking from it? Of course not! But we do this in a spiritual sense because it is hard to deal
with the "dirrt" inside our hearts.

Changing those things in our lives that we can change involves taking steps to clean the inside of our "cup" our heart. We  must begin by turning our eyes away from everyone around us, including those we blame for our condition in life or
